a Special Zoo, Taronga Zoo

Hi everyone,
How are you guys doing today? Saturday the 9th of February Alyssa, Melanie (Alyssa’s friend), Phoebe and I went to the zoo. And not just any zoo, no we went to Taronga Zoo! Taronga Zoo is the biggest and most famous zoo in Sydney. Let me take you on an adventure with us!

Saturday morning, I got picked up really early (In contrast too my Australia Day post, now I am for real; I got picked up at 6:00 am) by Alyssa, Alyssa’s father and Phoebe from the boarding-house. Another girl from the boarding-house called Mackenzie also got picked up by them. We headed to the baseball match that the girls had to play. The only thing I can really remember from the match is that I had a nice breakfast; an egg/bacon sandwich and a coffee in which I put a lot of sugar to hype myself up for the day. After the baseball match we dropped Mackenzie off at the boarding-house again and we headed home. Once we arrived at Alyssa’s place, we ate a quick lunch and then we headed to the zoo.

First, we had to pick up Mel. We missed our ferry because we had to put money on our opal cards so that was not super nice but luckily Alyssa’s mom was so sweet to drop us off at the place where our ferry would stop by next. After the ferry ride, we had to catch the train and then a special ferry for Taronga Zoo.

Once we arrived at Taronga Zoo, we had to sit in a cable car, the ones you also use during ski vacation (Does this sounds too posh? I am sorry). The view was amazing and not only in the cable car, wherever you walked the zoo you had an incredible view. You could see the entire city. I have to be honest with you, I am not the biggest “zoo lover” you will ever meet in your life. Don’t get me wrong, I am definitely not an animal hater. I am even getting a dog once I return from Sydney and I am really excited for that! But when I see a monkey, I am not like, “Ooowh, see what he just did?! Wasn’t that super cute? Omg!” However, this zoo was on a whole other level; There was a live band with some really good music (dancing & singing? check!), the nature was outstanding, there were a lot of different live shows (we watched the bird show) and again the view would make any place/event ten times better.

We basically stumbled our way through the entire zoo. We saw snakes, spiders, kangaroos, koalas, alpacas (hahaha, I really hope one specific person is going to read this), giraffes, gorillas and probably much more animals.

After going up and down with the cable car for two other times, because you know why not, we caught the ferry again and we headed towards the city. There we had a delicious Asian diner. Eventually, after we spend some more time in the city, it was time to head home.

I hope you enjoyed reading about Taronga Zoo. If you're ever in Sydney I would really recommend you going there, especially if you have kids!

Okay this weirdo from Down Under heads off for now! I will speak to you soon!

With love,

Frederique
